The Hoover Building in London inspired this fitted woman’s sweater with intarsia stripes and faux cable columns. You might wonder why it’s not a more colorful art deco looking sweater given the picture here. But what attracted me was the clean lines and folded look of the red stripes. Also, when translating architecture to knitting patterns, I had to think about the way color and texture techniques work. With the faux cables acting as the “folds” it would have been a very expert level pattern if I added fair isle. Hoping to inspire advanced beginners or intermediate knitters to try color work, the simpler intarsia design works better. And the cleaner lines of this design are more flattering to a variety of body shapes. Enjoy!
