Hop on the Bus, Gus!
There is a lovely knitted school bus scarf from Morehouse Merino (pattern on their website here) which I fell in love with. We celebrate Christmas in August in our family and I wanted to make something fun for my aunt who is a school bus driver. I decided to crochet a school bus scarf for her to wear during the colder months. It’s fun and bright and I think the kids will get a kick out of it. I’ve designed my scarf to look as “real” as possible. Perfect for back to school days! Scarf is worked from the bottom of the bus up with the wheels added on afterwards.
This pattern uses Bernat Super Value WW in Bright Yellow (00608) (1 ball - 197g/7oz) (You won’t use all of it, but you will use most of it! I was thinking of making a hat or bag to match), 1 ball of black and small amounts of light grey for the wheel centres.
Finished Size:
Scarf: Approx. 78” long and 7” wide (from bottom of bus to roof)
This scarf was designed for an adult. The long scarf allows you to wrap it around yourself once with a nice length left on either side to show off your stunning wheels! If you would like the scarf longer or shorter, simply change the # of beginning chains to suit your fancy.
I’d love to see your scarves! I am thinking of making this kiddo size sometime in the future! If you do, let me know!

I didn’t write down my pattern for the stop sign, but you can purchase a pack of shapes including an octagon from Kristin Campbell-Harris here.
For the accessible sign, just crochet a square and stitch the symbol on top. I followed images I found on Google.
