Hop To It Socks
These socks are a super cute design, featuring little brown fluffy bunnies around the leg of the sock and carrots burried in the toe. These are worked using two stranded colourwork and a bobble stitch for the tail. There is a pink and purple stripe pattern running the length of the leg and foot of the sock.
The pattern is written for 3 sizes, small (UK 5-6), medium (UK 6-7) and large (UK 7-8), but the it is very easily customizable to fit your own foot. As you’re knitting from the cuff down, you can slip your work over your foot to check the fit of the leg, heel and foot as you go.
Suitable for knitters with some knowledge of sock knitting and stranded colourwork - joining in the round, knitting with up to 2 strands of yarn at once, a flap and gusset heel and kitchener stitch. There is a link provided for a video tutorial to help you with the Kitchener stitch to graft the toe.
I’ve knitted these socks using Drops Nord yarn, it’s lovely to work with and very reasonably priced as well as easy to get hold of in balls of 50g.
I’ve listed the quantities I used here but you could use any colours you prefer:
Colour A: Plum, 40g (135m) - Cuff, heel and stripes
Colour B: Fog, 10g (35m) - background of the bunnies and carrot leaves
Colour C: Brown, 20g (68m) - bunnies and toe
Colour D: Lemongrass, 5g (20m) - grass and carrot leaves
Colour E: Blush, 30g (100m) - pink stripes
Colour F: Rust, 5g (15m) - carrots
I also used some Drops Kid Silk in Colour Almond held together with colour C for the bunnies to make them a little fluffy. If you would like to do the same, you will need around 10m of Kid Silk.
Any 4 ply sock yarn will do, however, the gauge I’ve worked to is 30 stitches to 40 rows using 2.5mm double pointed needles or any needles suitable for knitting in the round.
I have tried to make this pattern as user friendly as possible, but will provide you with my email address when you download the pattern, if you have any issues at all, do get in touch and I will be happy to help.
Thanks for taking the time to look at my listing, if you have any questions before purchasing, do get in touch.
Happy Knitting! x
