Description:

  • Want to wear a blanket with pockets in public? The Hope Shawl makes that socially acceptable! This cozy pocket shawl is great for late fall through winter, even something you can wear in the early spring. This is the first version of this design, using a size 6/super bulky yarn, making it a quick knit.
  • This design is also available in a size 5/bulky weight

Skills:

  • I would rate this as a medium beginner pattern - the body is very simple and mindless knit, but attaching the pockets might be a new skill for you to learn.
  • This is a fairly mindless knit once you get going.

Size:
- 19 in wide x 66 in long / 48 cm wide x 168 cm long
dimensions will vary based on height/wing span of the wearer
- One size fits most

Materials:

  • 5 skeins of Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick and Quick, or about 490 yards / 785 g (plus extra for fringe, if adding) or any other similar size 6 / super bulky yarn
  • US 19 / 15 mm circular needles, OR needles to obtain gauge, minimum length of 24 in / 60 cm long. Anything shorter and your stitches will be too crowded.

  • US 13 / 9 mm needles (these are for the pockets straight needles or a shorter circular will suffice)
  • 2 large stitch markers, large enough to fit these massive knitting needles. Rings also work!
  • Locking stitch markers
  • Yardage is approximate - your tension can affect how much yarn is used
  • Designer’s sample used Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick and Quick in the color Charcoal
