Hope Springs
My New Year’s resolution for 2020 was to teach myself fairisle knitting and after making several hat designs from other people, I wanted to try and design my own and this is the result.
I began designing it just as the UK entered lockdown due to the coronavirus and asked my followers on Instagram for some ideas for a name.
The recurring themes were ‘Hope’ for the future and looking forward to the ‘Spring’ that was to come. So I thought ‘Hope Springs’.
Special offer : add both the hat and the matching cowl to your basket and get 30% off the second pattern, no code needed. Previous paid purchases apply if you are a Ravelry member and already have one pattern in your library. (Ravelry allows only one promotion per basket.)
It will fit an average sized adult head (approx 22”), or you could use a larger needle if you need it a little larger. Extra ribbing, or plain rows could be added between pattern blocks to give a little extra length.
(Alternatively, Andrea added an extra pattern repeat (168sts) very successfully -

I have used 9 different shades but one of them (the deep pink in the central flower of the crown) could be swapped for any suitable scrap, as you only need enough for 30 stitches!
I hope you enjoy making and wearing it as much as I enjoyed designing it!
Please do link your own project so others (and me!) can enjoy it and see your colour choices. And use the hashtag #hopespringshat when sharing on social media.
