Meet Hopeful, the Hat Buddy! I created this pattern for charity, to donate a cute Buddy to cancer centres and to hospitals, but I also created this pattern for all the lovely people who have been participating in the cancer challenge and have been working so hard to make beautiful hats and other items to donate to centres world wide. I thought, they too may like to have a work station Buddy who sits and smiles at them while they work! So, this pattern is for their enjoyment as well…Unspoken hero’s they are I say… Hero’s in their own thoughtful way… So I hope you love making your own Hopeful Hat Buddy and that whatever you choose to do with it, I hope it puts a smile on your face or someone else’s face!
Materials you will need are: a 4 weight yarn in 2 colours (I chose pink for breast cancer but there are so many other colours you can use that represent different types), a crochet hook sized 3.75mm (if you use a smaller hook your Buddy will turn out smaller but I don’t recommend that you go to a bigger hook unless you are using thicker yarn), polyfill stuffing, scissors, a sewing needle, safety eyes (8mm is what I used) or thread for embroidering the face, a small pompom maker, and there is the optional poly beads (poly beads are optional since Hopeful sits up fine on her own without them).
Hopeful Hat Buddy, when made with the same weight yarn and the same hook size should turn out to be approximately 6 inches tall from her feet to the top of her pompom. I used less then 200 yards of a skein of white yarn and less then 200 yards of a skein of pink yarn.
I would also say that this is more of a intermediate pattern since there are different ways to crochet the different parts, such as in a continuous spiral, turning rounds, and joining rounds. Please be aware of these changes throughout the pattern as you go.
If you do make Hopeful Hat Buddy, I would love to see it! Please link your pictures back to my ravelry shop so I can see your Buddy, or come join my fb group to share your makes with me and to follow me for new future releases! Link to my fb group is provided in my ravelry profile!
So to finish off here, I do hope you enjoy the pattern, stay kind, your the best type of people! :D ;) <3
God Bless <3
