Hopeful Stitches Baby Blanket
Those of you who have read my bio know that I lost my beautiful three-year-old daughter five years ago, but few people know that my husband and I have been struggling with unexplained infertility for almost four years. Needless to say, Mother’s Day is a very difficult day for me, having once been a mother, and wanting desperately to be one again.
This year has been an emotional roller coaster, as seven of my friends and family are expecting babies this year. SEVEN! As I celebrate their joys with them, and knit them heartfelt gifts, I hold on to the hope that one day I may feel that joy again.
Hopeful Stitches was knit with love and happiness for my cousins, who are adopting a newborn this month. They do not know if it is a boy or a girl, but they are incredibly grateful to the young mother who has made the choice to give them hope, love, and LIFE!
This baby blanket was knit using DK yarn, but you can knit a larger version using worsted. I used Kraemer Perfection DK; less than 2 skeins of the main color (grey), and less than 1 skein each of the four contrasting colors (cream, green, blue, and purple).
The honeycomb pattern is easy to knit, and you will likely have it memorized by the end of the first color. Knit with joy and love in your heart, knowing that any little baby who receives it will know he or she is loved and cherished.
