Hopscotch Cable Headband
I wanted a headband that was shaped from narrow to wide so it wouldn’t be too bulky at the back of my head. I liked the idea of one type of cable flowing into another one and once I’d finished my second test headband, I thought it looked a little like a hopscotch game, hence the name!
You could use most standard 8ply yarns for this band. I’ve tested using FDC Zara, Heirloom Celtic and Wendy Sorrento and the results have been very similar which is good, seeing as the 3 yarns that I used are all composed of different fibre types.
The band can be easily lengthened or shortened by doing more of the first/last cable panel. When you first put on the headband you may find it a bit tight. This is intentional, as it will relax and stretch a little with wear.
I did wash, block and pin the headband to minimise any edge curling. As I remember, the Zara didn’t curl at all and the others only a little.
