Have you ever really looked at a horizon after the sun has set and noticed the layers of tree lines? The one closest to you is dark. The next one is lighter. The one after that is even lighter. The horizon is what inspired this hat design. You can knit it in any colour you want, naturally, it is really lovely in the gradient.

This hat is designed to use Brooklyn Tweed Shelter but any worsted weight should give you a similar result.

It’s also a fun way to play with colours or gradients. If you’re looking for that “just one more stripe” type of knit, then this hat has you covered.

There is a size for youth, a small adult and a larger adult. You can knit the short version (less slouchy) or the tall version (slouchy). It is knit with no ease.

Look for video tutorial links in the pattern for the techniques that are not common.
