I have always been attracted to texture. It appeals to my visual and tactile senses. Texture strikes my imagination and inspires design. Such was the inspiration for this design.
I recently viewed a picture of my first Spanish exchange daughter’s little girl. She was leaning against the clear wall of the balcony outside of their hotel room in Tokyo. The depth of field held her in crisp focus with the buildings below softly vanishing into the horizon. I named this poncho Horizonte (horizon in Spanish) to honor the lovely Ava who inspired this design. Horizonte reflects the idea of rooftops softly fading into the horizon. This easy knit gives variety to the knitter as you progress upwards.
I hope this poncho accompanies you into the horizon of many future adventures.

Needles: US 5 (3.75mm) Circular - 32” cable, or needle size needed to obtain gauge.

Yarn: Elsebeth Lavold Silky Wool (192 yds/176m; 1.76 oz/50g; 45% wool, 35% silk, 20% nylon)
6 Skeins, Blue green #009

Yardage Used: 1000 - 1152 yds/914 - 1053m. (Yarn usage will vary with the cowl depth that is chosen.)

Gauge: 22 sts/32 Rows = 4 in (10cm) square using US 5 (3.75mm) needles.

Finished Measurements:
Front/Back Width (A): 34 in/86cm
Shoulder to Hem Length (B): 22 in/56cm
Neck Opening (C): 21 in/53cm
Cowl Height (D): 4.25 in/11.8cm (short)
8.25 in/18.4cm (long)
