November 2021 Pattern Update
Pattern revised with updated and simplified crown decrease instructions.

The Chicago Greystone buildings are an iconic style, with stones made from several minerals, including hornblende. The Hornblende Hat represents this sturdy but elegant style! This super warm hat, with a garter stitch band, is easy to knit but has enough variety to not be boring.

The building block pattern is formed by carrying a slipped stitch across the contrast color. Alternating bands of stockinette and garter stitch create texture and warmth.

The slip-stitch pattern is carried into the crown for an elegant wheel and spoke look.

Perfect warm hat for midwest winters; excellent for gifts and charity knits.

This pattern has both charted and written instructions.
