I’ve never tasted or even seen a horned melon. From what I hear, I think that they may not always be edible. What I know about them is that they look really strange, and my son picked it as one of the fruits he would like in his set, and so I set out to knit a horned melon.

This is what I like to call a “felt in the mouth” toy -- if it’s intended for a child under 3 it will probably end up felting a bit as it’s played with. I like the way this looks, and when it gets dirty or seems uneven I just toss it in the washer. So while it’s a good project for using up scraps, make sure you know ahead of time how your yarn reacts to felting.
