Hot As Legwarmers
OK, It’s a tube.
I’m not going to make any excuses for this pattern: these Hot As legwarmers are just tubes!
That’s right, they are the very simplest form of working double-knitted brioche in the round, with no patterning, and no embellishments at all. I refuse to apologise for that!
I have included them in this book as a way of introducing you to the idea of working DKBrioche in the round, so that you can practice the technique, and not get bogged down with following a chart or a pattern. You can just get on with brushing up your skills, and instead of working on a practice swatch, at the end of it, you get to have something wearable and useful!
These legwarmers will change your winter!
Seriously. Just slip them on over your lower leg, whenever the temperature gets a bit shivery, and you’ll definitely feel the benefit. Pull them up, or let them ruckle casually around your ankles. Tuck them into your wellington boots, or wear them around the house under your dressing gown.
You can choose to make them as stylish or as slouchy as you wish. The one thing that is certain is that once you put them on, you might not want to take them off!
Featuring nothing but a simple tube of double-knitted-brioche rib, this is the easiest pattern you will ever come across. I made mine to fit generously around my own calves, but using the gauge listed below, feel free to make yours by casting on fewer or more pairs of stitches, and you can make them as long or as short as you like, customising this pattern-that-is-no-pattern to suit your own individual shape and size with no problems at all.
My own Hot As legwarmers are VERY slouchy, and very large. I could probably have taken two or perhaps even four pairs of stitches out, had I wanted them to fit more snugly, but I love them just the way they are.
I like to wear them folded double for even MORE warmth and comfort!
