History
Mary Carroll posted a variation of Jan Metzger's Hot Damn Afghan pattern on a Prodigy bulletin board circa 1992. Most of the original text of the posting was archived in a 1996 email from "DLevs" at WoolWorks.org, which no longer exists. The Wayback Machine currently archives the rescued page.
Description & Author's Notes
This variation introduces a wide rib pattern between garter stitch rows. Multiple strands of yarn are held as one to make the gauge for the chosen needles; circular needles hold the large width of the project -- knit in rows, not rounds.
"The blanket has the same appearance on both sides, as long as you stay with a multiple of eight."
