Hot Pot Cardi
This cardigan is worked sideways starting at the back and working first right side (as seen when wearing the garment) and then left. Bottom ribbing is added next and then an intermediate blocking is recommended before seaming the shoulders together. Then front ribbing is added before finishing off with sleeves.
This pattern is written for superwash yarn, which behaves differently from non-superwash wool in blocking and wearing. I strongly discourage using this pattern with non-superwash yarn, since it will be impossible to get gauge.
Note on Apmezga Aquila DK: Apmezga have taken it out of stock since I made the design. They recommend replacing it with Columba DK.
Yarn weight should be around 260 m/ 284 yards per 100g.
Gauge in garment:
Garter:
Pre-blocking gauge: 18 sts x 28 rows.
Post-blocking gauge (in garment): 15 sts x 30 rows.
Stockinette:
Post-blocking: 23 sts x 23 rows
Ribbing: (both post-blocking)
Horizontal: 24 sts x 26 rows (bottom of garment)
Vertical: 14 sts x 36 rows (collar and front)
Most of the cardigan is worked with 3.5mm/US4 needles. Sleeve ribbing is worked with 2.5mm/US1½ needles.
