A couple of years ago I bought a childs beret from the saleroom which had a similar motif to this and since then I have always wanted to design a hat which uses the pleasing repetitiveness of an all-over pattern that simply grows into the crown decreases. The colours subtly shade with a bright middle row and the two colourways show how different a pattern appears on a light or dark background.

approx 30 sts and 32 rows over 10 cm using 3mm needles. The needle sizes given are to match this gauge, to ensure the same finished dimensions you may need to alter your needle size.
