The Houndstooth Backpack is a classy and cute design that works for any occasion. Mix and match colors to fit your style!

The pattern is an intermediate level, but might work well for adventurous beginners. The finished backpack measures approximately 25cm (9 ¾’’) tall, 28cm (11’’) wide (when opened laying flat), and 8cm (3’’) deep.

It’s made with two contrasting colors of a fingering weight yarn (147g/500m) and a 2mm (US Steel 4) hook. This pattern’s sample used approximately 500 meters (547 yards) of color A (base color), and 310 meters (340 yards) of color B (accent color). You’ll also need safety pins and a tapestry needle.

The pattern also includes the option to use metal hardware (2 D-rings and 2 adjustable sliders, 3cm (1’’) wide) to make the straps completely adjustable. The straps’ instructions are divided into two distinct sections: ‘Without Metal Hardware’, and ‘With Adjustable Sliders’, so you can choose the right one for you!
