Originally a Scottish woven wool fabric that designated clan neutrality, the harmonious geometric houndstooth check continues on a journey of reinvention. Characterized by a four-pointed star in a grid configuration and featured in contrasting light/dark fibers, the motif is easily recognized in various materials and products. This project recreates the timeless design using the stranded/“fair isle” knitting technique of carrying two colors along a stockinette row. The garter fabric pillow back is joined to the front with half double crochet stitches. Bulky yarn and big needles not only enlarge the pattern scale but also make a bold statement.

Bulky Yarn Requirements: 140 yards dark color and 281 yards light color divided as follows: Front - 104 yards dark color and 66 yards light color; back - 215 yards light color; crochet join - 36 yards dark color.
