Welcome to houndstooth mini scarf.

This cute little scarf is knitted with double knitting technique. You create 2 layers at the same time and you don‘t have any wrong side to show.
Since it has 2 layers, it is warm, although it is so tiny. It fits perfectly under a coat or jacket. It‘s perfect for gift knitting and if you want to have some stash busting project, since you will need only about 100m of each yarn.

Yarn
You can choose any yarn, which is fingering, or sport or dk weight.
For toddlers, I would recommend to use fingering weight yarn.
It‘s recommended to use rather fuzzy yarn than others, I find the stitch definition is better with fuzzier yarn.

Yardage
You will need approx 100m of each yarn for a adult size scarf. For the toddler or children‘s version you will need a little bit less that that.

Gauge
21 sts x 32 rows in stockinette. But it‘s also not that important to meet the exact gauge.

Needle
Use 1mm needle size smaller than recommended for your yarn. As I have knitted 2 samples, I used 3mm dpn needles for this scarfs.

I have knitted 2 scarfs. The grey one is my first sample and I used fingering weight yarn (arcane fiber with silkmoahir together) this version had 10cm of width and is smaller than the second version, which is the improved pattern.
The second version is knitted with the soft lama of svartafaret, which is a dk weight yarn. It has a width of 12cm and the length of 81cm.

this pattern is available in German and English. Some tutorial videos of the technique are included.
All sizes have been tested.
