Hourglass Mosaic Blanket
A relaxing knit to pass the time!
The techniques for this pattern are easy! You only need knit and slipped stitches to create the pattern, and only one colour of yarn is used at a time. This is a great introduction to the techniques used for “mosaic knitting”.
Gauge is not critical for this project, but will affect the finished size and yardage required.
Instructions are included for any yarn size, to swatch and determine cast on stitches and needle size that work best for your yarn.
Sample shown in DK weight (3) acrylic yarn, using a US 6 - 4mm 40”/101cm circular needle knit flat. Gauge for sample is 22 stitches and 42 rows = 4 inches in garter stitch and used approximately 730m/800 yards total, with finished dimensions of 25”/63.5cm square.
