These ladies slippers are an elegant basic crochet pattern to have on hand. They are pretty piled in a basket for your house guests at the front door. They also make lovely gifts, tied with a simple ribbon, for your hostess or your friend in the hospital. This is one of my earliest, and most purchased patterns. Enjoy!

Construction:

These slippers are constructed using the most common stitch pattern, a double crochet stitch (dc). The pattern works up quickly and seamlessly from toe to heel. They are a great way to practice increasing, and changing from working in the round to working in rows. So go ahead, give them a try and expand your skills.

The pattern holds 2 strands of hardy worsted weight afghan yarn together. I recommend acrylic for its durability and ease of washing. These slippers will stretch to hug a foot, and return to their original shape with a turn in the washer and drier. Trust me, I have made loads!
