House Targaryen Banner (Game of Thrones)
After battling this design for longer than I will admit, the dragons have been mastered and all the stitches put in their place. I love the way it hooked out, but I did make small changes to some of the letters and the uppermost wing.
I used worsted weight and an H hook, but this pattern can easily be made larger or smaller depending on yarn and hook size. There are also two ways to make this monster; either crochet over your non-working yarn for a “clean” reverse, or drag and drop like I did. The only thing that CANNOT be changed is a method for keeping track of your stitch count.
There are a LOT of color changes, but don’t be intimidated by this beast. If you know how to single crochet and how to change colors in sc, then you too can have dragons for your very own.

Please accept my apologies for any frustration. It’s the dragon’s fault.
gauge doesn’t matter, be careful with tension
NEW!!! 7-4-15 Special thank you to vsierra!!! A fellow Ravelry-er(?) and Game of Thrones fan recently emailed me a color graph she very generously created to accompany this pattern. Here’s what she said about her graph:
“Obviously it’s supposed to be made in the original colors-- black and red. The background is white simply so the boxes are more visible, but the white boxes should be crocheted in black, the red boxes in red, and the blue boxes can be crocheted in either white (to add a bit more detail to the eyes, tongue, and talons) or red (which is their color in the original pattern).”
