Strange name for a shawl, you might think? But I had two reasons for this.

First and foremost, because of how it begins. The whole top edge of the shawl is created right at the start as a long icord, and its length determines the size of the finished shawl.

Secondly, my first sample was knit from two part-skeins of the same brand of yarn which I had left over from other projects… so I was hoping throughout the project that I would have enough to complete it. And - thankfully, I did!

So I guess the answer to my question is: long enough to reach both ends!

There is now a sister design to this one: an asymmetric triangle with a very similar construction, called Measure Twice Cut Once (find it in my pattern store)
