My Dad loves vests. I designed this one for him as a surprise to replace a previous one I had made which my mother had felted in the wash. I chose superwash wool for obvious reasons!

This v neck vest uses an all over rib and braid cable pattern from Barbara Walker’s Second Treasury. It also uses seamless construction and Elizabeth Zimmermann’s kangaroo pouch technique for steeked neck and armholes.

This pattern uses a chart for the cable.

A surprisingly easy vest to make that would serve as a wonderful introduction to the world of steeking. Just be sure to use natural fibres as acrylic doesn’t play well with steeks. Drops Karisma is a perfect choice as it is 100% Superwash wool and is also very reasonably priced.
