A comfortable triangular shawl full of delightful textures, Hoya was created as an easy to wear piece. This design draws its inspiration from the beautiful foliage and vining stems of hoya plants, translating their unique shapes into a pattern of intertwined cables and wrapped stitches.

Hoya Shawl is worked from tip to tip with increases along one edge for the first half of the pattern and mirrored decreases for the second. Stitch patterns include cables, wrapped and traveling stitches, and delicate faux cables along the edges. The pattern has instructions on making three different shawl sizes, but can easily be made shorter or longer to fit available yardage. Directions are both charted and written out. Needles

• US 7 / 4.5mm needles (straight or on a long cable) or the size needed to obtain gauge

Gauge

• 21 sts and 26 rows in 4” / 10cm in stockinette, blocked
• 27 sts and 31 rows in 4” / 10cm in cabled pattern, blocked

Construction

• The shawl is worked flat from tip to tip. Increases shape the first half of the shawl, and mirrored decreases - the second.
• The body of the shawl features cables, wrapped and traveling stitches (a combination of increases and decreases that visually resembles cables with less work).
• The edges are polished off with small faux cables and slipped stitch selvedge.
• Optional tassels can be added for a more boho-inspired look.
• You can adjust the size of the finished shawl by making fewer or more pattern repeats of the pattern. Instructions for this are provided.
