A soft and cuddly totally huggable life-sized sloth pattern. I decided to make this pattern available to other crocheters, after the overwhelming response to my finished guys for custom requests. All the parts are easy to make, and the magic really happens when you take the time to brush out the fur.
Huggable Sloth sits a full 18” tall, and is a good 24” long if legs are dangling. Make one for the Sloth-lover you know!

To complete this pattern you will need

  1. 4 balls Loops and Threads Country Loom in “Weathered Rock” *** UPDATE - Weathered Rock, which has shadings of grey and brown is a discountinued colour as of 2019, but there have been some great projects completed using “Steel Grey” or “Shale” as alternative shades for the main body, have a look at the projects tab to see what you might prefer***
  2. 1 ball Loops and Threads Country Loom in “Rich Granite”
  3. Recommended worsted weight yarn for sewing in Red Heart Super Saver “Buff”
  4. 1 skein of Homespun Thick and Quick in “Pearls”, or Country Loom in “Cream”
  5. 1 pair of 18mm safety eyes
  6. Velcro or Buttons to connect paws

I highly recommend using the suggested yarns for the fur, as they are multi-ply and hold up well to brushing without actually coming apart. Lionbrand homespun is a single ply with one thread running through it, and cannot hold up to being brushed on it’s own, if you choose to use that you will need to pair it with an additional regular yarn to work it up. Other boucle type yarns may work, but have not yet been tested so far. If anyone out there decides to use a fun-fur type yarn, that won’t need brushing, I would love to see your work in the projects tab!

I hope you enjoy making him, and the response he is sure to receive when people see your finished sloth!
