When I was designing these socks I wanted to create a very classic, unisex and timeless ribbed socks with a little eye-catching twist. Such a socks which will be enough easy to knit for a beginner and at the same time fun to knit for an advanced knitter. I think that Hugs and Kisses socks are meeting all the assumed conditions.
The socks owe their nice name “Hugs and Kisses” to a beautiful cable running through the center of the front. When you look at it closely, you will see the letters “xoxo” repeating all along its length.
The socks are knit from toe-up, seamlessly in the rounds with my favorite fleegle heel. Such a heel construction is very comfortable to wear and is a perfect choice especially for people who have a very high instep. It is also a guarantee that you will not have to deal with any nasty holes on the sides of your sock. Great, isn’t it?

Yarn
Sisu by Sandnes Garn ( 80% Wool, 20% Nylon; 175m / 191y per 50g ).
For a pair of socks you will need 2 skeins of Sisu or about { 250, 270, 290, 310, 330 } m / { 275, 295, 320, 340, 360 } y of any other fingering weight yarn.
Note: The yardage is estimated and depends on sock length.

Needles
2.25 mm ( US #1 ) circular needles for magic loop or DPNS, or one size smaller than the gauge needles;
2.5 mm ( US #1.5 ) circular needles for magic loop or DPNS, or size needed to get the right gauge.

Gauge
30 sts and 44 rounds = 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4 “ - in stockinette stitch pattern worked in the round with 2.5 mm / US #1.5
needles, after wet blocking.
Adjust needle size if necessary to get given gauge.

Skarpetki swoją sympatyczną nazwę “Hugs and Kisses” zawdzięczają pięknemu warkoczowi biegnącemu przez środek przodu skarpetki. Kiedy przyjrzysz się uważnie, zobaczysz powtarzające się na całej długości litery „xoxo”, czyli z angielskiego „uściski i całusy”.
Skarpetki są dziergane od palców w kierunku ściągacza, bezszwowo w okrążeniach, z moją ulubioną piętą typu „fleegle”. Taka konstrukcja pięty jest bardzo wygodna w noszeniu, idealna dla osób które mają wysokie podbicie. Pięta „fleegle” to także gwarancja, że nie będziesz musiał borykać się z paskudnymi dziurami po bokach skarpety.
