Humboldt Cowl
NOTE: CO is 36 stitches. You will have a 12 stitch garter on either side of the cable. Updated PDF for download is coming soon.
Materials:
Two skeins Madelintosh ASAP
#11 US 16 inch circular needles
A long cable needle
Two stitch markers
A tapestry needle
This cowl is knit flat on a pair of circular needles. If you prefer to knit with straight needles I recommend US 11 14 inch.
The cowl has a 6x6 cable through its middle with a 24 stitch garter ribbing on either side. The cable stitch comes on every 10th row, and there are 6 cable crosses through the whole cowl. Mattress stitch is used to seam the cowl, so be sure to leave a tail after the cast on.
If you’re a beginner and unsure of knitting a cable pattern, this pattern will help you learn. It’s very easy and explained in plain english.
