This stunning hummingbird design also has a picturesque orchid in each corner of the shawl. Interestingly, it is noted that the Aztecs used hummingbirds as a talisman as they were beloved and admired for their energy. Warriors believed that if they were true to battle but lost their lives, they would come back as a hummingbird! What gorgeous and vibrant creatures they are.
Yes, you guessed it… Pammaggie wanted something else to crochet, something with ‘a bit more to it and different to the other things I’ve done before’. So here it is; the newest design and pics of the finished article.
We have developed the pattern in different formats to follow: in a grid/block chart pattern to follow throughout, crochet symbols (for the first 5 rows so that you understand how to increase on each row) and written instructions for the first few lines until you get into the swing of it!
The yarn used was a hobbii twister in beautiful blue/turquoise hues, which looks stunning, however you can use any 4 ply yarn to create this adult size shawl. You can also add the tassels if you wish to finish the shawl off perfectly.
Knowledge of filet crochet is needed to be able to do this project. Filet crochet is not hard to learn and there are you tube video to help.
