This pattern is now available as part of the For the Love of Stories eBook Vol. 3-Shawls for $12. Unfortunately, previous pattern purchases cannot be credited toward the purchase of the eBook.

Inspired by Eric Carle’s book, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, a lacy bug eye pattern expands down the center back of this shawl to the hungry caterpillar edge. The yarnovers multiply in the edging just like the hungry caterpillar’s appetite grew in the story! Learn something new by finishing your knitted shawl with a looped crochet bind off that complements the eaten holes of the shawls edge. (It’s easier than it looks!)

Note: This shawl may be worked with lighter or heavier weight yarns. If you change the yarn weight, make sure that you choose
a needle size that gives you the drape you desire in the fabric. Yardage requirements will change based on yarn weight and gauge.
