Originally released in 6/10, this pattern got an upgrade in 2/15 to include a boot cuff modification, clearer instructions, and is now knit up in a currently available yarn.

A bold but surprisingly simple stained glass stitch created by using fingering weight variegated yarn and garter stitch worsted weight rounds make these legwarmers and boot cuffs a super fun way to dress up your legs. Whether you stick half of them in your favorite pair of boots or throw them over your leggings for a little extra warmth, you’ll instantly add color and style to any outfit.

Finished Measurements Length: Legwarmers are 15” and boot cuffs are 8”. Width: 12 (13 1/4, 14 1/2)“ through the body. Both legwarmers and boot cuffs shown in size small.

MATERIALS

Yarn
Knit Picks Wool of the Andes (MC), 100% wool; 110yds/50g: 2 (2, 3) skeins for legwarmers shown in Hyacinth. 1 (2, 2) skein(s) for boot cuffs shown in Cobblestone Heather.

Knit Picks Hawthorn (CC), 80% wool, 20% nylon (polyamide); 357yds/100g: 1 (1, 1) skein for legwarmers shown in Montavilla. 1 (1, 1) skein for boot cuffs shown in Concordia.

Needles Size 4 (3.5 mm): 16”circ and/or DPNs. For sizes S and M you’ll need a set of DPNs for the cuffs. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Notions Stitch marker (M).

Gauge With MC, 28 sts x 26 rows = 4” in k1 p1 rib.

Notes While working the stained glass stitch, keep the yarn you aren’t knitting with attached so you have fewer ends to weave in. Make sure you bind off loosely so you won’t have problems slipping your legwarmer or boot cuff over your legs!
