Close your eyes and imagine a beautiful scenery of your own garden with meadow flowers blooming all around your favourite bench. The one you always sit on while knitting. A place where nobody disturbs you while at work. Warm sunlight touches your skin and a light breeze cools you down. All you can hear is bees buzzing all around you and your knitting needles touching each other softly with every knitted stitch. Imagine you’re knitting your Hygge Collar. “Hygge” is a Danish word for something that gives us a feeling of cosiness that derives from simple pleasures of everyday life. Knitting my Hygge Collar would certainly give you that feeling.

The design is worked bottom-up on 3.0 mm US 2½ / UK 11 straight needles. It features a pretty picot hem followed by a set of delicate structural patterns and is finished with simple yet universal i-cord bind-off.

The pattern has been TechEdited and tested, it includes written instruction, links for video tutorials for elements that might be most problematic for less experienced knitters, and a chart for the bottom structural section.

The pattern includes 7 sizes (which are listed at the bottom). The yarn dedicated for this project is Baby Merino by Drops (50 g 1.8 oz = approx. 175 m 191 yds) which is 100% merino wool. Similar yarns that might substitute for this one are: Nord by Drops, Tynn Merinoull by Sandnes Garn, or Merino Superiore by Lana Grossa, but firstly make sure to make a swatch to check for gauge. My gauge is 28 sts x 36 rows in stockinette stitch on 3.0 mm US 2½ / UK 11 needles = 10 x 10 cm 4 x 4” after blocking.

Sizes:
Baby (0-1 y.o.) - (1 skein) neck circumference up to 26 cm 10¼“;
Toddler (1-4 y.o.) - (1 skein) neck circumference up to 28 cm 11”;
Child S/M (4-7 y.o.) - (1 skein) neck circumference up to 30 cm 11¾“;
Child L/XL (7-10 y.o.) - (1 skein) neck circumference up to 34 cm 13½“;
Young Adult (10 y.o.+) - (2 skeins) neck circumference up to 40 cm 15¾“;
Adult S/M - (2 skeins) neck circumference up to 40 cm 15¾“;
Adult L/XL - (2 skeins) neck circumference up to 44 cm 17½“;

If you want yardage including yarn for a swatch then I’d recommend to buy 2 sekins for all sizes apart from Baby and Toddler (for those two 1 skein should be enough.)
