Hygge Mitts were designed to be both super cozy to wear and a relaxing and meditative knit.

The mitts are knit snuggly so as to hold their shape for a better fit and longer wearing time.

The Hygge cable is a combination of rhythmic 2 x 2 rib with a more engaging cable round twice in the repeat.

The thumb is placed with scrap yarn and then knit as an afterthought.

Two sizes are offered, and I’ve included both written and charted instructions.

Pairs well with a cozy nook for knitting in while enjoying a hot beverage. Enjoy!

Skills Required
German Twisted CO, working in the round, knit, purl, cable knitting, reading a chart (optional), decreasing, picking up stitches.

Materials:
Sample yarn:
1 (1) x 100 g/246 yds, Fangirl Fibers, 100% Superwash Merino DK, in colour Cocao Dust.

Approx. Yardage: 165 (246) yds/ 181 (270) m DK weight yarn. Alternatively, you can use a fingering weight yarn held double or a fingering weight yarn and a lace weight mohair or suri held together. If you are holding yarns together you will need the listed yardage for each of them.

Yardage is an estimate and is impacted by knitter gauge, yarn used, and any modifications made by individual knitters.

Suggested Needles:
3 mm/US 2.5, 80 cm/32” length for magic loop OR 3 mm/US 2.5 double pointed needles OR size needed to achieve gauge for the Hygge Cable;
Cable needle;
Darning needle

Gauge: 50 sts/38 rnds is 4”/10 cm, in Hygge Cable pattern, unstretched.
