Ancient greek myth tells of Hyperborea, a land beyond the far north that is lush and green and where the sun is always shining. To reach this far off land, one must travel beyond Boreas, the North Wind. Canadian winter months can sometimes feel like journeying to Hyperborea; Each day that we bundle up to face the frigid winds, we remember the promise of the coming spring.

Hyperborea hood is constructed seamlessly from the bottom up. The scarf tails meet into a generous hood with a center panel that is decreased across the top to the brow, making a practical shape and an attractive silhouette. A simple knit and purl diamond pattern create a beautiful texture across the fabric surface. Instructions are given in charted format to make keeping in pattern for hood shaping easy.

On a crisp cold day, Hyperborea hood is a great extra layer or an alternative to a hat (for those ladies who do not wish to crush their hair). Wear it while trekking through the polar north to the mythical realm where spring reigns eternal!

Materials:
4 skeins Cascade Highland Eco Duo or 800 yards of worsted weight yarn
5 mm needles or size to obtain gauge
Stitch markers
Wool needle
Stitch holder or spare needle

Skills Used: reading charts, paired increase and decreases

Measurements:
Tails - 35 inches
Hood Depth- 13 inches
Hood Height- 12 inches

Gauge:
18 sts/ 20 rows = 4 inches in Stockinette stitch using 5 mm needle or size to obtain gauge.
