This sock is worked top down. A separate toe up pattern is also available. These patterns are each available individually or as a set.

Hyperion is a close relative of Polar Arc, my sock construction that is worked entirely in the round yet still has a lovingly contoured fit even for high arches. A discount is applied if you buy both patterns, or if you have already bought Polar Arc.

I have made many socks using self striping yarn, and I love watching the pattern emerge as I knit. Hyperion is not worked with striping yarn, although its design is inspired by it. This pattern uses a color map system that anchors the striping design at the heel and instep. This stripe placement on this unique sock construction evokes a feeling of concentric circles, so I named the pattern after one of Saturn’s moons.

The pair on the pattern cover is worked with 2 colors of Sealy MacWheely BFL 4-ply (Gerbera and Denim). I also made a pair with Frog It! Space Blue and Rose all day. Frog It offers the top down pattern free with yarn purchase!

Finished sock circumferences range from 6.5 to 10 inches. Sizes S(M, L, XL) each have their own pattern file, with an additional file devoted to 4 half sizes.
