I Heart Skates Cowl
In 2020 I had the idea of purchasing roller skates. I waited months for them to arrive and when they did, I was unstoppable! Seriously, I couldn’t figure out how to stop. I still don’t really know how to stop, but I can skate. Every time I would skate, I would text my friend Dawn and share my excitement. My friend Wallis also bought skates, and we started skating together every Sunday. Roller skating gave me something I really needed: a little bit of time to myself where my brain got to turn off, and I’d skate in circles and giggle.
The I Heart Skates Cowl is inspired by all the fun I’ve had roller skating and my wonderful friends that kept encouraging me and inviting me to skate with them. Knit in worsted weight yarn, the I Heart Skates Cowl is a cute pattern for an adventurous beginner with stranded colorwork. Written for two colors, knit one for yourself or one for a friend to match their skates.

Notes
I Heart Skates is a simple colorwork cowl in two colors, suitable for beginner colorwork knitters.
It is recommended that you trap your floats every 4-5 stitches, for example, on rounds 14-19 of the chart.
If you want your skates to pop, be sure to use high contrasting yarns. Preferably at least one should be a solid color yarn.
If you want to make your cowl wider, cast on additional stitches in multiples of 14 sts. Each skate repeat adds approximately 3” / 7.5 cm at the intended gauge.
