I Love Gansey
Errata
There’s an error on p. 17 of the book -- the two little cables (A and B) are described as requiring 4 stitches each. They only require 2 each, according to the charts on p. 18. Using the charts will make the stitch count correct for the socks.
Summary: From the designer’s description:
I named this sock as a play on words for the place where I live -- the beautiful island of Guernsey in the Channel Islands between the UK and France. There is a great history of knitting here in the islands and to this day it is possible to buy traditional Guernsey fisherman’s sweaters. The top of the sock mimics the welt of a traditional Guernsey and the rest of the patterns reflect the Celtic history and traditional gansey patterns of the islands in general.
Notes: This was the August-September 2007 pattern exclusive for the Six Sox Knitlalong group. The pattern was free, but due to its inclusion in a forthcoming sock book I have had to withdraw the pattern for contractual reasons -
More details:
The book version uses the Footprints yarn and a 2.75 mm needle to get the same gauge as the original.
