I Love Jam Dishcloth
This is the time of year when thoughts turn to making jams and jellies. However, it had never occurred to me to design a jam jar cloth until I heard from Dinah who made the suggestion. There are two versions of this dishcloth, both a ‘fancy’ jar and a ‘garter stitch’ one for those who don’t want to attempt the crossing stitches. There are not many, and it might just be fun to give it a try. Otherwise, only a knowledge of casting on and off as well as knit and purl are needed. The more complicated stitches are t2R, t2L, t2Lp, t2Rp, and tbl.
You will need one 50 gr ball of 100% cotton worsted weight yarn. The finished dimensions of this cloth are 9”W x 8 3/4”H and it weighs in at 43 gr.
For best results knitting ‘picture’ dishcloths, use a size or two smaller needle than you usually would for the given yarn, choose a solid colour yarn and block your finished dishcloth.
Many thanks to Tunie for checking out my initial chart, knitting from it and giving her feedback. She is always such a great support. Also many thanks to Dinah for her suggestion, for going above and beyond and test knitting both the ‘fancy’ and garter stitch versions. Such amazing support and enthusiasm from these two Rav knitters!!
