These are the perfect socks for curling up next to a crackling fire with a good book and a steaming cup of tea.

This pattern is the second in my Game of Thrones sock series, and it is designed for Sam. The bands of ribbing up the side of the foot mimic the shelves of books in the Citadel library, and the diamond pattern is borrowed from the quilted jacket that Samwell Tarly wears in the TV series. When asked how he knows obscure facts, Sam often replies proudly “I read it in a book!”.

If you’re not a Game of Thrones fan, you’ll still appreciate the cozy texture of these socks that will remind you of quilts and bookshelves.

This is a toe-up pattern with a gusset and heel flap. The texture is included in both written and charted versions. This pattern is designed for one circular needle (Magic Loop) or two circular needles.
