Finally the 4th I Shawl pattern is here!
This shawl is all about structure; Strong columns, diagonal supports and wraps to hold it all together. I personally like to live a somewhat structured life, and in order to do that, I need to be my own architect. The structure of my life is based around the people I have chosen for support, the passions that keep me going and the values and beliefs I hold on to at all costs. It can be as simple or as complicated as I choose, and I think this shawl displays that perfectly!
This asymmetrical shawl is knit side to side and features a lace edge, columns in garter stitch, applied i-cord selvedge edges and an i-cord bind off. This pattern is completely adaptable to any weight of yarn, and any yardage. The main chart can be repeated as many times as your yardage will allow for. I love the idea of a completely flexible design and this is definitely it!
This pattern seems very long, but the first 3 charts go very quickly as there aren’t a lot of stitches.

Size: Adjustable
Materials:
Yarn: Shown: Flock Fibre Studios Take a Hike Sock (416 yards/115 grams). 3 Skeins in Antique Shop
Recommended:
2-3 skeins of fingering weight yarn or 3-4 skeins of DK/Worsted. This pattern can be knit with any weight and amount of yarn at any gauge, however yarn usage will vary.
Needles: #5 (3.75mm) circular needles (for fingering). If using another weight of yarn, choose the needle size that gives you a fabric that you like.
Notions: cable needle, darning needle for grafting and weaving in ends, blocking pins/wires
Gauge: 20 stitches/4 inches in garter stitch (blocked). Gauge is not critical and will depend on the weight of yarn/needle size chosen.
Instructions: Both written and charts are provided. Percentages are used to calculate overall size of shawl so a scale is required.
Skill Level: Intermediate. There are some interesting stitches and techniques, and requires focus and the ability to read your work.
