"Icaro" A lace hat
Icaro is a unisex lace hat. It has the potential of being a reversible hat as it is done, with a 99% 1 x 1 ribbing. In Greek mythology, Icaro (Spanish spelling), Icarus (the Latin spelling, conventionally adopted in English; Ancient Greek: Ἴκαρος, Íkaros, Etruscan: Vikare1) is the son of the master craftsman Daedalus. Often depicted in art, Icarus and his father attempt to escape from Crete by means of wings that his father constructed from feathers and wax. This hat made of wool will keep you protected from the Sun and the cold wind. It can be a tam, a slouchy of plain beanie, I hope that you will discover your favorite style, then make one for you and one for a friend. This pattern was inspired by Barbara G. Walker Flame Ribbing Stitch Pattern.
M1K1P = Make 1 Knit Stitch and 1 Purl Stitch
A method to increase stitches in knitting. The M1K1P is performed in between two stitches, with the horizontal bar between the stitches. To make a M1K1P or make one knit make 1 purl, you may take the left-hand needle and pick up the bar between the stitches from front to back as shown in the bottom picture of Picture 2. Use the right needle to knit a knit stitch, then again coming from the back of the horizontal bar and making a purl stitch. M1L and M1R
The make one increases are lifted directional increases. You can make a right-leaning lifted increase (M1R) or a left-leaning lifted increase (M1L). Sometimes they are referred to as LLI or RLI.
The stitch on the needle has two vertical bars, one on the right and one on the left. The increases are worked by knitting into these vertical bars of the stitch below. You can make M1L and M1R Pair in the space between two stitches. I do not show this in the video, but the concept may be applied as seen on Picture 4.
For a right-lifted increase M1R, the next stitch on your left-hand needle is the focus. To make the increase, knit into the right vertical bar of the stitch below. Picture 3 bottom.
For a left-lifted increase M1L, the stitch just worked on your right-hand needle is the one you are going to use. To make the increase, knit into the left vertical bar of the stitch as shown in Picture 3 top.

This is a great Unisex Lace Hat. I made it in less than two days, My hat has a circumference of 22 inches with a stretched fit and it is under 45 grams of yarn. I could have made two hats with one skein of yarn. I hope you enjoy making this hat and make one for friend as well. If there are any mistakes please do contact me. Thanks for your patronage.
