“Iced Cloud” is a simple long cardigan which combines allover Half Brioche with cables on the fronts and sleeves. It is worked in a yarn combination which includes Mohair (or brushed Alpaca, as a substitute), for the cloud-like appearance.

The cardigan is worked bottom-up, first the body up to the underarms and then the sleeves. All 3 pieces are joined and shaped with accented double decreases in the Half Brioche sections at the joins and for the front neck. The slanted shoulders are worked with a few short rows. The neck bands in Brioche are continued and joined at center back using a 3-needle-bindoff.

Needles: Main needle size is 4,5mm; 4,0mm needle used for the sleeve cuffs.
You will need 14 (2+4+8) markers, preferably in 3 different colors.
Gauge: 16 sts x 36 rows in Half Brioche, 20 sts x 30 rows in cable pattern.

Yarn
Approx. 1300/ 1400/ 1500/ 1600/ 1700 m of a heavy DK or light Worsted weight yarn (including Mohair or brushed Alpaca) needed, for an overall length of approx. 90cm.

For my sample (in size L), I have used 1 strand of hand-dyed Valentina Wollante Kidsilk Lace (72% Mohair, 28% silk, 420m/ 50g) held together with 2 strands of Ruppert Garne Soft Lamb (100% wool, 425g/ 50g), which results in a yardage of approx. 140m/50g (in case you are planning to use only 1 strand).
