The Icicles Shawl was designed for the Sheldon and Missy’s 12 Days of Knitmas - Icicles and Rainbows 2023 advent calendar from Marianated Yarns. It combines a simple stockinette body with a vibrant band of slipped stitches, topped off with playful tassels. Dabble in color as you welcome the New Year!

This pattern contains both fully charted and written instructions.

Recommended Yarn:
Marianated Yarns Lynnette Gradient, 6-color set (Contrast Color - CC) — 75% superwash merino / 25% nylon — 276 yds (252 m) to 60 g in total — approx. 46 yds (42 m) in each 10 g mini. Shown in colorway Candy Shoppe. Sample used most of each mini. (Contrast Colors are referred to in order of usage as CC1-CC6).
Marianated Yarns Practicality 75/25, one solid skein (Main Color - MC) — 75% superwash merino / 25% nylon — 463 yds (423 m) to 100 g. Sample used approximately 425 yds (389 m). Shown in colorway Galileo’s Glass.

Sizing:
58” (147 cm) across and 27” (69 cm) deep.

Blocked Gauge:
22 sts and 36 rows to 4” (10 cm) in stockinette st and 21 rows and 38 rows to 4” (10 cm) in lace.

Needles:
US 5 (3.75 mm) circular needle, plus US 4 (3.50 mm) needle for garter border (both in 32” length).

PLEASE NOTE: I actually used a US 6 (4 mm) needle for the sample, with a US 5 (3.75 mm) needle for the garter border. If you have knit other patterns of mine, please know that I don’t knit quite as tightly now as I did in years past, but I am still a somewhat tight knitter. Changes in gauge will affect finished size, look of motifs, and amount of yarn used.

Other Materials:
Four stitch markers, tapestry needle, crochet hook (H or I hook), yarn scale (recommended).
