ICYMI MKAL Shawl
In case you missed it (ICYMI)… Kino Knits and The Knitting Boutique are excited to bring you another MKAL, this time for a three-color shawl designed for The Knitting Boutique’s Severn DK yarn, a unique blend of Blue Faced Leicester (BFL) fiber and silk. The shawl includes easy lace and stripes, so choose yarns that offer some contrast for the best results - and be prepared to use up just about every bit of those skeins!
What You’ll Need
- 335 yards each of three colors skeins of DK yarn: recommend The Knitting Boutique’s Severn DK (75% BFL wool/25% silk), which The Knitting Boutique is selling in special 335-yard putups for this KAL at https://knittingboutique.com/mystery-kal.html
- US 6/4.0 mm circular needles, 29-32”/75-80 cm in length (or your preferred length for knitting shawls)
- US 8/5.0 mm needle – this is for the bindoff, so it will only have one stitch on it at a time and can be any kind of needle, even a DPN
- 9 stitch markers
- gram scale for weighing your yarn
- tapestry needle for weaving in ends
- blocking wires and pins
Stitches Used
- K
- P
- YO
- CDD
- M1L
- M1R
Gauge
18 stitches and 28 rows in flat stockinette stitch over 4”/10 cm after blocking.
That said, this is a shawl. Being a little off in your gauge will not be disastrous. Your goal is to get a fabric you like for a generous shawl.
