From the pattern description: “In its reversed position the Laguz, or water, rune is an indication of a period of confusion in one’s life. It is marked by making wrong decisions and poor judgements. There is a decided lack of creativity and feelings of being in a rut. The person associated with this rune will show fear, circular motion, avoidance, withering. These emotions will eventually cause madness, obsession, despair, perversity, sickness, and even suicide.

It should come as no surprise, then, that the character who relates to this rune is Tom Marvolo Riddle, also known as Lord Voldemort. Driven to madness by his obsession his eventual demise is a lesson to us all to not allow ourselves to be consumed by hatred, greed, or bigotry. The smocking pattern centralized on these socks is indicative of the serpent-like creature he became, with the Laguz rune being worked in lace on either side of it.“

This pattern is one part of a 12 pattern set of Ancient Runes Sock Patterns.
