This simple but elegant dishcloth can be a great introduction to cable knitting, since it only features one basic cable stitch, allowing the knitter to get comfortable with the idea through repetition, without making things too complicated.
The pattern can also be extended into a larger size project, e.g. a placemat, blanket, rug etc.
