Across seven seasons and 153 episodes of Gilmore Girls, each begins the same way: with the theme song, “Where You Lead,.” oOriginally written in 1973 by Carole King and featured on her Tapestry album., Caroleshe was approached to re-record the song with her daughter for the show. Creator Amy Sherman-Palladino told Entertainment Weekly that in the beginning, “We’re a tiny show, we don’t really exist and Carole King is a legend.” Amy wanted a theme, “tThat felt classic, and you just don’t get more classic than Carole King.”“ Even though the original song was written about a womaen’s love for a man, King and her daughter, Louise Goffin, were happy to change the lyrics to be more empowering for women and give it “a new lease on life.” With Louise just becoming a mother and Carole becoming a grandmother at the time of the recording, they see the song differently: “There is no distance that is too far to go to be with your child.” The footage they have in the opening sequence where Lorelai and Rory are on the porch in one scene and Rory lays her head down on Lorelai’s shoulder, that really captures the song.” According to the show’s creator, “It’s the greatest theme song in the entire world.”

Nothing makes you ready for a fall binge binge-watching session of Gilmore Girls cozied up on the couch than this crisp autumn cowl. Worked seamlessly in the round, the cowl features stranded colorwork falling leaves that circle around facing different directions, sandwiched by corrugated ribbing. The autumnal palette ebbs in and out, making it a perfect fall wardrobe staple.
