Ikigai is worked seamlessly from the top down with an alternating rib stitch. Knitting starts with the back to the underarm. The shoulder stitches for the fronts are picked up from the back CO (you will first work the right front, then the left front). Once the short row shaped shoulder slope is done, the fronts are worked flat to underarm. At underarm both fronts and back are joined to work the body top down back and forth to the bottom hem. As the front ribbing is built in, there is no finishing required. Sleeve stitches are picked up around the arm openings to work the sleeves top down in rounds to the cuffs.

Ikigai è lavorato senza cuciture dall’alto verso il basso con un punto a coste alternate. Si inizia avviando il dietro fino all’altezza del sottomanica. Si mettono in sospeso queste maglie e si riprendono dall’avvio prima le maglie del davanti destro e poi quelle del davanti sinistro, che verranno sagomate e lavorate sempre a punto coste alternate fino al sottomanica. A questo punto i due davanti ed il dietro vengono uniti per lavorare il resto del maglione in tondo fino al bordo inferiore. Poiché il bordo a coste è già incluso, non sono necessarie rifiniture. Per finire si riprendono le maglie delle maniche che vengono lavorate in tondo fino ai polsini.
