Ilex is a simple hat starting with a ribbed brim and continuing on with a lace and cable panel surrounded by cushy garter stitch. The combination of stitch patterns is both relaxing and interesting enough to keep your brain engaged.

Materials:

1 skein Madelinetosh DK Twist or
approximately 220 yards/200 metres of a DK/Worsted yarn (You will need an additional skein if you want a pom pom for the largest size)
1 16 in (40 cm) US 6 (4 mm) circular needle
1 16 in (40 cm) US 8 (5 mm) circular needle
US 8 (5 mm) DPNs

Optional materials are a cable needle and pom pom maker or pre-made pom pom.

Small (Medium, Large)
16 in (18 in, 20 in) 40 cm (45 cm, 50 cm) finished measurements to fit head circumferences of 16-20 in (18-22 in, 20-24 in) 40-50 cm (45-55 cm, 50-60 cm) depending on how tight you like you hat.
