Illusion Sampler
This square is intended as a practice piece. Woolly Thoughts illusions are different from many others. It will help you understand how to use our charts. It has light and dark stripes, going in different directions, to show some of the effects that can be achieved just by using rows of straightforward knit and purl.
The sampler is shown from the bottom and side because the stripes are knitted in different directions. They look different depending on which side you view from.
In addition to the stripes shown you could also have a solid grey area and a two-colour section where grey is the perceived colour.
You can use any thickness of yarn. The example shown is DK and used approximately 45 metres (50 yards) of each colour.
This pattern has been available on The World of Illusion Knitting web site for several years. It is now available as a pdf that can be downloaded from this page.
